Mystery Cruise 1

Ever wanted to know what it's like to eat lunch in a Sauna - well next time we advertise a mystery cruise - come along and find out. The temperature in Adelaide had been around 42deg C the previous day. Sunday was not going to be that much cooler. We were told it would be around trip of about 300Kms and we would be heading North with the first stop after about an hour. Fuel / Drink stop was Port Wakefield and then it was on to the Copper Triangle (Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta). Lunch would have been perfect if it wasn't for two things.

FPV Open Day

Our annual club event of a weekend in Melbourne for the FPV Family Open Day unlike previous years started with four separate groups departing at different times and on different days, the first group leaving Monday, two groups leaving Friday (early and not so early) and then last but by no means least on Saturday (early) morning.

All Ford Day

25th Anniversary of the All Ford Day, Ford Mustang's 40th Birthday and The Australian Ute's 70th Birthday - All celebrated on the same day. A total of 11 club cars were entered and with the temperature to be in the high twenties it was to be a great day. It was decided to meet at the college this year (instead of meeting elsewhere and travelling in convoy) and all of us were setup by around 8.30am.

Mystery Cruise 2

Usual instructions, Hackney Hotel 10.00am for a 10.30 start, tank of fuel - Heading North. OK we can handle that. As we headed up North Road towards Gawler we were thinking "Maybe Barossa, Riverland??" but when we went through Gawler and then took the Mallala turnoff that completely dumbfounded us. But that's OK we were only doing what now has become our cruise trademark "Wrong turn - Let's turn around." (Just goes to show Satnav can make mistakes, can't it Adrian) So now we are on the right road and still heading north, rule out the Riverland - maybe Clare. Well close - lunch was at the Auburn Hotel. (Excellent meal too I must add)

Mystery Cruise 3

Sunday the 18th April was our very first mystery cruise with the club. We headed off in the morning to Victor Richardson Drive at Adelaide Oval. Being the first to arrive, we had a look around while waiting for everyone else to turn up. By about 10.30AM ALMOST everyone going on the cruise were there EXCEPT Steve and Deb who were deciding which car to bring- The Cougar or the Great 8. Meanwhile Wayne had to fill up the car with petrol. Shortly after the cougar turns up and we have a meet and greet session - Met new member Matt for the first time.

Minlaton Show 'n' Shine

On Sunday, 02 May, the Tickford / FPV Club held an outing to the Minlaton Show and Shine. Meeting place was Bolivar Caltex Petrol Station around 0715 - you could imagine how early you would have to get out of bed if you had to travel a long distance to get there. Anyway, once as many people had arrived as possible on this rainy day we headed on our way.

Mystery Cruise 4

After admiring the new addition to Adrian & Mandys GT we left the Hackney Hotel at about 1030am. Heading south towards Blackwood was…. fun, especially on a typical winters day where visibility was minimal due to heavy fog. Once we had established that we hadn’t lost any of the 12 vehicles that were participating in the cruise, we stopped at a bakery in Meadows for morning tea. Their sausage rolls and finger buns were just what we needed on a cold, wet, miserable day.

Calling All Fords

Saturday morning, lovely weather - clean the car. Saturday arvo, a few clouds but yep still no worries. Sunday morning YUK - Overcast with a few spots of rain. This was to be one of our premier events for the year, but the threatening weather and several conflicting events kept some clubs away. It was still a fairly good turnout with 16 Club Cars, 2 Cortinas, 2 AUs (Falcon, Futura), 1 AU XR6 Ute and “EFFIE” (a dirty BIG F250)

Mystery Cruise 5

The Mystery Cruise held on Sunday the 14th of November started at the Kurralta Park K mart in conditions that can only be described as “bleak”. This was my first cruise with the club, and I only had my EF XR6 barely three weeks. I was keen to go for a drive no matter what the weather did!

Christmas Function / Sponsors BBQ

The venue was Bonython Park on a slightly overcast Sunday, this was our last event for the year and it was also our best with 47 cars. (plus 3 supplied by Jarvis) With the bouncy castle set up for the little kids and the bigger kids banned all there was to do was to sit around, chat and admire the assembled machinery. The catering was top quality with plenty to keep the worms happy - hands up those who went back for doubles on the cheese cakes. The radio control car raffle was drawn in the afternoon and the lucky winner was Mark Ferguson of Millicent (Ticket number 0340).
