After admiring the new addition to Adrian & Mandys GT we left the Hackney Hotel at about 1030am. Heading south towards Blackwood was…. fun, especially on a typical winters day where visibility was minimal due to heavy fog. Once we had established that we hadn’t lost any of the 12 vehicles that were participating in the cruise, we stopped at a bakery in Meadows for morning tea. Their sausage rolls and finger buns were just what we needed on a cold, wet, miserable day. Once we’d gotten through the hills, the weather had improved immensely. The sun was even out for a small amount of time. Our destination for lunch was the Wellington Court House. Our host at the pub had only been given an hour notice that approx 24 people were turning up for lunch. Due to a late call from Wayne Cheeseman, our host put on a great spread, which consisted of a BBQ & fresh salads. But the entertainment was yet to come…. We were informed that a mock hearing was to be held in the old courtroom at the Pub. The accused was up on 3 charges, one being indecent exposure. The defendant, defence lawyer and judge were all played by various members of the car club. With special appearances by a few members in the public gallery (also members of the club, or their partners) After a brief hearing, the accused was sentenced to stoning and the case was closed. Soon after we were on the Wellington ferry crossing the Murray River and on our way home. A good day was had by all with many laughs shared. (The names of those participating in the court hearing were withheld to protect the innocent!) Looking forward to the next mystery cruise.
