General and Committee Meeting Changes

If you didn't get to July's General meeting you would have missed the announcement of changes made to the Committee and General Meetings.

Firstly, Committee Meetings have been combined with the General Meeting to form a single monthly meeting.

Secondly we are on the move. As of August, meetings will be held on the First Thursday of the month, and will be held in the Fleet Sales Room at Jarvis Ford Norwood, 190 Portrush Road Trinity Gardens. Meetings will start at 7:00pm and will finish no later the 9:00pm.

Committee Changes

On behalf of the Committee I would like to announce that Rodney Humphrys has agreed to fill the position of President following Matt's resignation at the April committee meeting.

Matt, having taken on the role of President as a temporary fill in, found that he was unable to dedicate the time needed to do the job properly.

Following Matt's resignation the committee needed to nominate someone to fill the Presidents position until the next AGM. Rodney, having previously indicated a desire to take on the role of President if the opportunity presented itself, was nominated by the committee and accepted the position. For those members that haven't met Rodney, he is a founding member of the club and former President having filled the role for a number of years while the club was being established.

Mal then announced that he would resign from the Vice President and Treasurer positions as of the May General meeting. On behalf of the Committee and Club members, I would like to thank Mal for the work he has put into the club over a number of years.

The committee will need to nominate someone to take on the position of Treasurer until the next AGM. Anyone interested in taking on the role should contact the committee.

I also encourage all members to attend the next General Meeting on Tuesday 6th May, to be a part of discussions on the future direction of the club.

February General Meeting

Just a reminder that the first General Meeting for 2008 will be held at the Goodwood Park Hotel on Tuesday 5th February.

The committee and in particular the Events Committee have been hard at work putting together a 12 month calendar for 2008, which will be released at the meeting. So come along and be among the first to see the 2008 calendar.

The meeting will be held in the Private Dining Room at 7:30 pm, but be sure to arive early and enjoy a meal before the meeting starts.

December General Meeting

The December General Meeting will be held in the Wine Bar instead of our usual place - the entrance to the wine bar is just off the drive-through area.

December Committee Meeting and January General Meeting Cancelled

As the December Committee meeting and the January General meeting both fall within the Christmas Holiday Period, it has been decided to cancel both meetings.

The first Commitee Meeting for 2008 will be on Wednseday 16th January.

The first General Meeting for 2008 will be on Tuesday 5th February.

July General Meeting Special Guest: Simon Wills

It was good to see such a good turn out for the July General meeting. If you didn't get there Steve (Events) had arranged a guest in V8 Supercar Team BOC driver Simon Wills.

Simon introduced himself to the club by telling us a bit about his Motorsport career. From getting his start in Karts and Formula Ford in New Zealand, to a stint in Formula 3 in England, back to Australia and winning the Australian Drivers Championship in Formula Holden, and onto his start in V8 Supercars, Team Dynamic and finaly the oppourtunity with Team BOC.

Simon then invited the members to ask any questions, and answered qustions on various topics including driver fitness, costs associated with running a V8 Supercar team, and the importance of TV coverage for all teams in obtaining sponsorship.

To wrap up the meeting Chris announced that Simon had agreed to join the club as an honoury member and to act as the clubs V8 ambassador, and presented Simon with a club polo and cap.

On behalf of all club members the committee would like to welcome Simon and his partner Charlene to the club.

Mallala Track Day and Cruise Cancelled

Wednesday 23rd May

Unfortunately due to a lack of numbers the Mallala Track Day, scheduled for Saturday 26th May, has been cancelled.

Saturdays cruise has also been cancelled. The cruise was to finish at Mallala Motorsport Park to meet up with the Track Day. As the Track Day has been cancelled the cruise has also been cancelled.

Please note that these events will appear in The Advertisers Club Notes as the events were cancelled after the ads had been placed.

February General Meeting

7:30pm Tuesday 6th February at the Goodwood Park Hotel.

All members and family are welcome to attend. Come along and get the latest information on upcoming events, meet fellow club members, and don't forget to buy a raffle ticket or two.

The meetings are normally held in the Private Dining Room, so why not arrive early and have dinner first (remember to show your membership card to receive a discount).

All members attending the FPV Open Day are requested to attend this meeting, so that any last minute information can be passed on and travel plans finalised. If you are unable to make it to the meeting, please contact Mal or Debbie so that the information can be passed on.

Barossa Cruise

The destination for the Sunday 21st cruise has been changed to the Barossa. Meet at Jarvis Ford Hillcrest at 10:00am. Cruise to the Tanunda Hot Rod Show 'n' Shine. Lunch will be at the Freeling Hotel.
